• Small Business Administration Blue Algae Briefing - In July 2019, a bloom of toxic algae forced Mississippi to close 25 beaches along its Gulf Coast. The blue-green algae "can cause rashes, stomach cramps, nausea, diarrhea and vomiting," the Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality says. And it warned that exposure would also affect pets. SBA Administrator Jovita Carranza made the loans available in response to a letter from Gov. Phil Bryant on Jan. 7, 2020, requesting a disaster declaration by the SBA.

• Small Business COVID19 Relief Package SB2772 (Powerpoint) - On May 1, 2020, the Mississippi Legislature convened to transfer $1.25B  into an account controlled by the Legislature. However, the Legislature ended up transferring $1.15 billion and left $100 million at the discretion of the Governor to use in case an immediate expenditure needed to be made. The The Legislature passed a $300M small business relief package to provide economic support to eligible Mississippi businesses for costs incurred in connection with COVID-19.
